Pay Wall Walk

Farringdon to Liverpool Street, via the Elizabeth Line but not on the train. You will pass through ticket barriers 4 times on this walk. If you have a zone 1 season ticket, freedom pass, reached daily cap then the walk will cost you nothing. Otherwise you will have to pay, hence the name Pay Wall Walk.

At Farringdon Station, there are 2 entrances opposite each other. One is for the underground, The other for National Rail and Elizabeth Line. This is the newer building. Enter this one and pass through the ticket barrier, take the escalator to the Elizabeth Line.

At the bottom of the second escalator, go on to platform A or platform B. Walk to the far end. The exit will be marked Barbican. Go up the first escalator. The next escalator is on your right, to the left of it (straight ahead) is a passage way. This exit will take you to the westbound platform of the Circle Line Barbican Underground Station. Do not use the stairs, they are for emergencies. Only two floors of the five buttons are authorised for the public. When you reach the platform walk to the far end.. On your right is removed track. Up the steps and out through the ticket barrier. The stairs spiral left up to the street, when they reach the street the stairs continue upwards to a bridge across the street.

Cross the bridge and turn right. Pass under a walkway. Second path on the right is marked to Barbican Centre. Follow this across another bridge and go down the left side steps. At the bottom of the steps, you will find a yellow line. This will lead you to the Barbican Centre yet is hard to follow, it is worn out. You can see the sign Barbican Centre on a building. Walk towards it and on the right are steps going down, they go down to an area of seating by a water feature. Walk to the café, the other side to the left you will find steps to Barbican High Walk. Up the short flight then go up via a slope to your left, at the end another slope will take you back but higher. At the top of the second slope turn right on to the Barbican High Walk which will cross the water feature. Turn left at the end of the bridge. Follow the wall to the end, then follow a yellow line branching to your right. You go through an exit and down a sloping bridge. Turn left and walk along to the end. On your left is a flight of stores. Walk down it and turn back under the stairs. Walk to the corner and turn right. At the end of the short bit of road is an alley way. Through the alley way, then turn left. Ahead on your left is entrance to Moorgate Underground Station. Go through the ticket barrier and on your right is escalator to Elizabeth Line. AT the bottom of the 2 escalators walk straight ahead. No need to go on the platforms. At the end are 2 escalators going up. At top of the escalators you can turn left and exit to Broadgate.  Or you can continue straight ahead. On your left are escalators to the Central Line Platform, walk pass them. On your left is the booking hall and exit via ticket barrio to the concourse of Liverpool Stret Station.
